YouTube – It’s Black Friday
The gothic subculture is alive and well on Youtube. One of our favorites right now is from user itsblackfriday. From her vlogs, hauls, reaction videos, and tutorials this channel has a little bit of everything. With elitism becoming a growing issue, she always encourages people to be themselves and to not let others try and dictate what is or isn’t goth for any individual. Both fun and informative, this is one channel we always look forward to when new videos pop up.
Books – A Conjuring of Light
The third and final book in the Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab is here! If you haven’t heard of the series but are a fan of fantasy, especially magic, then you need to pick it up. This final book in the trilogy manages to wrap all the story lines up, give us better insight into the character’s past, and keep us on our toes. One of the best things about this series is that there isn’t just a single hero, and one of them is a pretty kick ass female. Another great reason to pick up these books is that the series is being developed for the screen. We’ll have a review of the book up on the site later this week!
TV – Shadowhunters
Currently on it’s second season, Shadowhunters rose like a dark night to the top of our hulu viewing list. Based on the book trilogy, The Mortal Instruments, this series takes you on a journey with main character Clary Fray who has just been told she is not as ordinary as she once thought. Her world consists of vampires and warlocks and humans with angel blood. They’re called Shadow hunters, and she’s one of them. This is the second adaptation of the book series and far surpasses the lackluster movie that was it’s predecessor. It’s funny, sexy, and packed full of action. It’s also a little corny, but sometimes we prefer our television shows that way. You can check it out on Freeform (previously ABC family) or on Hulu which has both seasons 1 and 2 out and ready for binging.
