So we are less than a week away from arguably the greatest holiday of the year, and I am finding myself a little saddened by how ‘not in the spirit’ I am. But have no fear! I’m working on this. Decorating the house, finding fun scary shit to do, even trying to squeeze in a movie or two at the theater. One little-known fact is that Jeepers Creepers 3 came out this year in select theaters during select days. Getting a ticket the day of proved to be a feat, but I was determined and ultimately won the spoils. Packed theater, no popcorn, not even a soda I was running so late, but that’s all fodder, and unimportant when it comes to this cult classic.
Explaining the history of Jeepers Creepers would entail conjuring up memories of my childhood and all of the various other cult classics that popped up in the late ’90s. I remember it being a movie that resonated with me as a budding pre-teen. Justin Long was never ‘hot’, and none of the characters were ever really ‘memorable’ but the first Jeepers Creepers had something. Was it the jump scares? The urban legend? I have no idea, but I have to get a glimpse of 3 before it was gone foreverrrrr.
Nostalgia factor over 9000. Jumps scares that actually scared the shit out of me. (Or am I just getting old?) Lots and lots of laughs. Mostly because the movie was generically hokey, even more so than I had anticipated. I appreciated the gore and the pace of the movie. There never seems to be a true plot or a reason behind the madness, but it works. And it’s fucking fun, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously
If you walked into the theater expecting #3 to be some sort of revolutionary horror film, then you absolutely walked into the wrong movie. The 1st one wasn’t revolutionary, neither was the second, but the 3rd was pretty atrocious. I was annoyed that you could see the creatures full face during the entirety of the movie. They made him a daylight creature, which I never felt he should have been and I always appreciated the fact that his face was half shrouded. That was a part of his creep factor. It was also a little TOO hammy. The jokes were nearly that of slapstick comedy, which is completely unnecessary and the acting was heinous.
IN THE END
If you were a diehard Jeepers Creepers fan from day one, watch the movie if it comes across your path. It’s worth the nostalgia, the jump scares and the hilarity. But don’t buy it. Stream it or rent it or some shit. If you weren’t a fan to begin with, don’t waste your time.

It was good for the nostalgia and the jump scares, other than that, I feel it doesn't truly play to the theme of the series. There are talks of a 4th film, but if that happens, I hope they step their game up.
