It’s officially Summertime and you know what that means? Yet another Spotlight playlist!
Allow me to take you back to the summer of ’97. Ska music and pop punk were kings of the radio waves and we still watched music videos religiously on MTV. No Doubt was actually good and Gwen actually sang about real feminist shit. I was drooling over Anthony Kiedis and especially couldn’t wait to get my hands on the new Foo Fighters album. It was a time when music stood it’s ground. It was fun and carefree and still seemed to have purpose.
Our Spotlight: ’90’s Nostalgia playlist hits key notes of the Ska/Punk scene. It’s a time machine back to the hits we loved while we played in the sand and the sun. The horns in Cake’s “Love you Madly” and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones “Impression that I get” are specific to the era while Third Eye Blind’s Semi-Charmed life still echoes in new music we play today. This is music to jump around to; to make memories to like I already have.
Spotlight: 90’s Nostalgia is a spastic jam session filled with all your favorites from yesteryear. This lighthearted ska/pop/punk mix is meant to spew sunshine into your ear holes and happiness into your bloodstream. It’s fun. It’s intense, its kinda weird, but best of all, it’s fucking good.
Are you a ’90’s kid? What are some of your favorite songs from the era? Let us know in the comments!
