3027. A time when artificial intelligence reigns supreme and the world has been catapulted into chaos. Humans are scarce. A species all but eradicated by us. What are we you ask? Animated bio-robotic androids with intricate A.I. capabilities, but we are far better known as replicants. We look just like you, we sound just like you, we can mimic your every move. It is what makes you fear us, and what makes us superior. Now is the time to stop allowing history to repeat itself. Every mistake man made can be rectified. It is time for a new supreme being.
Part 3 of our October playlist series, we decided to trudge a little off of the beaten path and found ourselves frolicking in a dystopian fantasy about androids who want to take over the world. You could blame the release of Blade Runner 2049, but killer droids have established their own niche in the entertainment realm with other equally haunting movies such as I-Robot, Ex machina, and books like Genesis by Bernard Beckett.
This playlist creates it’s own story line. An unsettling cyberpunk journey that changes life as we know it. Songs like ‘Signal’ By Circle of Dust are the siren for panic and disorder. It’s the sound the beginning of the end. Bjork’s ‘Army of Me’ is a testament to the replicants themselves. An introspective look at the beings that feel they are far superior to humans. AI is an interesting and crazy concept that it not too far off from becoming true. We walk a thin line now. Just imagine what the future holds.
For the ones with super strength and newfound empathy. The ones with hearts of steel and minds as intricate as computer chips. We are the superior. A man-made species built to eradicate our maker. We are sentient. We are Replicant.
