Over at Not Your Counter Culture, it’s not hard to notice that we love music. All kinds. (We are non discriminatory) I personally have thousands upon thousands of playlists not only on Spotify but through I tunes and on various burned CD’s and mixed tapes that date back to the early 2000’s. All music is good music in my book. Even bad music. We’ve decided that now would be a better time than any to let you into our worlds just a little bit and what better way than to do some showcase playlists?
For those who don’t know, I’m an avid new music hunter and massive funk fan. I crave anything with a good beat that’s just slightly off kilter. Something that makes me feel like I should be wearing my grandpa’s cardigan and a pair of tube socks. I’m legit an elderly man in a 29 year old woman’s body. I’m okay with this. I own it. It’s my thing. Just as I own my odd bubblegum indie funk jams. Yet there’s much more than meets the eye with this playlist. I’ve been listening to the Transplants ever since re-finding them during the creation of the Pub Rock Playlist; but most noteworthy is K Flay who kills with her new album. Hell, she practically forced me to add more than one of her slightly sinister tracks to this playlist.
Spotlight: Spring Vol 1 is a funky, eclectic mix of new and old spring time tunes that are perfect for car dancing and shower singing . Some are weird, but all are fun. Not to mention you’ll feel like a bonafide bad ass at the end of those glorious 46 minutes. I know I do. Let us know what you think in the comments! Do you have any new or old favorite songs that are perfect for spring?
