Happy Saint Paddy’s day! Even if you’re not Irish, most of us will find ourselves imbibing on behalf of the spirit of the saint this day. (Casually raising our hands over here). Which brings us to introduce our new friend, the delicious Luck of the Irish cocktail! You can’t go wrong with Irish whiskey on this fine Irish day; and the splash or several of bubbles adds just enough pomp and circumstance to make you feel classy while drinking it.
Luck of the Irish is a hearty beverage, the kind to put proverbial hair on your chest. It’s robust and oaky and plays well off of the natural flavors of the spirits. To put it simply, it’s fucking delicious. If you’re coming up blank for a toast to this delicious cocktail and this wonderful holiday, we made sure to cover you on that front too. (We’re generous like that). Cheers and drink up lads and lasses!
There are several good reasons for drinking
and one has just entered my head.
If a man can’t drink when he’s living,
then how the heck can he drink
when he’s dead
May the winds of fortune sail you, May you sail a gentle sea.
May it always be the other guy, who says, “this drink’s on me.”
Luck of the Irish cocktail
- 2 oz. Jameson
- 5 drops Crude’s (company out of Raleigh NC) Bitter less Marriage Bitters (this is a hibiscus, lavender, oak bitter that complements the Jameson very well)
- 1/4 tsp of Agave syrup
- Cava or other Brut sparkling wine
Shake Jameson, agave syrup and bitters over ice. Strain into glass with ice ball (we dyed ours green for extra fun for St. Paddy’s Day). Top with Cava.
