A Quick Take on Too Faced Peaches & Cream

By Mary Morelli @mary_mo · On September 19, 2017

This past weekend I took full advantage of my free VIB makeover at my local Sephora. I wanted to try the new Too Faced Peaches & Cream collection before making a big purchase. When I showed up and talked to my awesome makeup artist, we decided on doing a red smokey eye after discussing possible issues with the foundation. Of course I didn’t get to try all of the products out but I did get a good variety to base a review on.

Here’s the final look we achieved! The lips do have a glitter on top of them to give it a little more depth.

Peaches & Cream

Primed & Peachy

The primer is light and felt really great on. It really helped to hold my makeup in place. I was extremely excited about this collection because I have super oily skin and I’m always on the lookout for good matte products. The primer rocked and helped keep the shine away.

Peach Perfect Foundation

This foundation is said to be a comfort matte with medium coverage and that’s exactly what it is. I have a fairly pale complexion so I went straight to the shade Snow. While it was a pretty close match, all of the shades seem to have a yellow undertone to them, which I guess makes some sense considering it’s a peach collection. However I have more pink undertones so it wasn’t a perfect match. I would love to see some more shades released that address this.

It also doesn’t offer a full enough coverage for my liking but I think it could be buildable. I could see blemishes and red marks through it. Since I was only getting a 45 minute makeover I wasn’t too worried about building the coverage to test it out. I might purchase one to test it out once I run low on my current foundation.

Bronzed Peach, Peach Frost, & Peach My Cheeks Blush

These were the products I was the most curious about. A cream to powder bronzer, highlighter, and blush could have gone really bad but these are amazing. Again they are light and comfortable to wear. I don’t want to get into too many specifics with them since I didn’t apply them myself. However I think I might need to grab all of them so that I can really get a feel for them. They are also super easy to blend and build on. All of them just felt really amazing on and I cannot wait to get my hands on more of the blush shades.

Just Peachy Mattes

This is the product I’m sure most people are interested in, the eyeshadow palette. In the not so distant past, Too Faced has had some eyeshadow formula issues (ahem, Peanut Butter & Honey). This has left myself, and I know a few others on the fence about grabbing new releases without testing them. This was one of my main reasons for getting my makeup done using the collection before purchasing.

I have great news, these eyeshadows are amazing. They are soft and easy to blend. I do have a little experience outside of my weekend look because I purchased the palette before leaving. So far I haven’t had any issues with shadows being chalky or hard to blend. The color selection is nice and I love that it trends more toward browns and reds while the Sweet Peach palette had purples and greens.

Peach Kiss

Moisturizing matte lipsticks are a little bit of a joke if you ask me. No matter how hard most companies try, they are still drying. Unfortunately, these are no exception. **Part of the drying out I experienced could be due to the liquid glitter topper that we used at the very end so I’m not going to count these out as moisturizing just yet.**

When I removed my makeup at the end of the night, my lips did feel a little drier than normal and prompting me to use an oil on them before bed. They are leaps and bounds better than other matte lipsticks I’ve tried before and a huge improvement on liquid matte lipsticks.

The shade I picked was soft and felt comfortable on. It had great coverage and was long lasting. There was very little transfer when I grabbed my cherry vanilla Coke and pumpkin custard concrete from Sonic after.

Peach Mist Mattifying Setting Spray

The first thing I noticed about the spray is how great it smells. It’s also very light and dries quickly. Like I said above, my face had no shine come through from oil for the rest of the night so this stuff gets my stamp of approval.

Over all I think this collection is a win for Too Faced. Everything I tried lived up to what’s been advertised.

Products I didn’t get to try are Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder, Peach Blur Finishing Powder, and Sweetie Pie Bronzer. I will update this review when I have had a chance to try these products.

About

What is Counter Culture? Well, Webster’s refers to it as: “a way of life and set of attitudes opposed to or at variance with the prevailing social norm.” They’re right of course, and over here at Not your Counter Culture, we want to elaborate on that variance. From food, music and lifestyle commentaries, to social issues and culture in every sense of the word. This blog is a collaborative collection of what’s new, what’s trending, and what truly makes folks like us a little more out of the ordinary.
