Music: Tegan and Sara: LY2D tour/The Con X Tour
So, When you come out of the closet as a lesbian your welcome package usually consists of a flannel, the entire 6 season compilation of the L Word, and a copy of Tegan and Sara’s The Con. You live by these items and die by them for the most part. Although the L Word has come and gone (even though there’s talk of a reboot?) T&S are still making music 10 years after The Con debut and are just as relevant as ever.
I was lucky enough to be able to partake in one of their infamous live shows last week for their LY2D tour and was still blown away by their stage performance and ability to playfully and humbly engage their audience. What’s even better is I spied some interesting posts popping up on their Instagram feed yesterday only to find out that they’re planning yet another short tour through North America for The Con’s 10 year anniversary. (I like to call that ‘The Long CON’’ – horrible pun, sorry!) This set will be all acoustic and chock full of the songs that started it all. Only a few select cities are getting this rare opportunity. Tickets go on sale soon!

Decor: Shroom in the Room
We have avidly been digging crystals and their abilities for some time now over at NYCC and are always looking for the next cool thing to decorate our spaces with. As we dug through Etsy (Gotta help those small business owners!) we stumbled upon these gorgeous lanterns and nightlights made out of tree fungi and different variations of crystal.
Shroom in the Room is a small Lithuanian shop that specializes in these handmade lamps that bring nature and the healing powers of crystals straight into your home. They’re fucking stunning guys, and perfect for those of you who love yoga and meditation, or even if you’re just afraid of the dark. All of their materials are hand selected and carefully dried, inspected and designed to be safe for use. The DO ship to the US, but times may vary. Make sure you save those pennies! One could set you back at least $150.00, but it’s totally worth the price for these handmade beauties!
Check out their amazing selection here!

It’s a time when the receive the longest rays of sun and our days last far longer than they will for the next nights and seasons to come. To honor the elements and the longest day of the year.! Find ways to get back to nature during those those extra sunlit hours, or try your hand at some crafts that celebrate the offerings that our elements give to us, like the lavender infused vodka lemonades that are coming up on NYCC soon! Looking to partake in a ritual or two? Fire rituals, Sun celebrations and tool recharging rituals are great ways to honor this midsummer festively. Television: Riverdale
I have a major guilty pleasure. Teen dramas. Shadowhunters, Pretty Little Liars.. You name it, I’ve probably watched all of the seasons. When Riverdale arrived in my recommendations on Netflix, I didn’t even have to think about it. Instead, I pressed play and departed into the world of Archie and his friends as they attempted to solve the town’s biggest mysteries all while dealing with their turbulent teenage lives.
Their dilemmas are grown up and so are the actors (As they always are in these teen dramas) but the plot lines are like pop rocks: shocking and addicting. Visually, you can’t beat this beautifully crafted show, and although the tropes are a little tired, it’s still a refreshing and wonderful series to watch, especially for those who-dunnit fans. Season 1 is out on Netflix now, while we wait very, very patiently for Season 2 to arrive on the CW this fall.
Tarot: Starchild Tarot:
You. Guys. Have you ever looked at something and known it was meant for you? That’s exactly how I feel about The Starchild Tarot by Danielle Noel. This deck which is made up of photographic and hand painted images is one of the most visually stunning decks I’ve laid eyes on in a long time.
Art means a lot to me, and it’s apparent in Danielle’s work that it means alot to her. The Akashic deck utilizes the major arcana (swapping the pentacles for crystals) with the intention of taking you on you on a cosmic dream journey to discover yourself and the light within. The artwork is mystical and feminine; a style that begs to be handled with care as if they aren’t made for this dimension. This is a great starter deck as well that comes with a guide book to help tarot readers of all levels understand the meaning of the cards. Her website also includes pins, necklaces, prints and home decor.
The Starchild Tarot and Danielle Noel’s other amazing products can be found here.
Makeup: Rituelle De Fille
Not sure if you remember this, but a while back there was a viral post about this new goth black creme highlight that us counter culture kids went absolutely wacky for. Problem was: It hadn’t been made yet. Guess what? It’s available now for only $29 bucks! The company, Rituelle De Fille, that makes this exclusive creme pigment is known tons of other Goth makeup products as well. From ash and ember eye soots to forbidden lipsticks, you can’t go wrong with their gorgeously goth collections. Not to mention they’re all decently priced so you won’t break the bank.
All of Rituelle De Fille’s products can be found here
Good Eats :Charcoal EVERYTHING
Remember the unicorn trend? Of course you do because we’re still living in a unicorn world, and we’re all little unicorn girls. Some love it, some hate and and noone should ever try that nasty ass starbucks frappuccino that has fifty bajillion grams of sugar in it. You’ll get the ‘beetus. How about instead testing out the newer, more eccentric trend? CHARCOAL EVERYTHING. I’m talking charcoal ice cream, charcoal coffee, charcoal lemonade and some of those charcoal bath bombs. There’s too many charcoal things to count! But that’s because of two things. All light fluffy vibrant colored rainbow aesthetics need a darker, more mysterious, alternative counterpart, and 2: because charcoal is actually fucking good for you. Not only will it whiten your teeth, but it helps with digestion and the removal of toxins from your body.
Here’s a recipe for a charcoal ice cream as black as your soul
And there you have it! This weeks topics were the perfect mix of yin and yang; of light and dark, and of the old and new. Tell us what some of your favorite items right now or if you’ve tried any of the above!
